Surrealist Paintings in TaiwanSurrealist paintings in Taiwan Surrealism was one of the most influential movements during the modernization of 20th Century Arts. However, the opportunity for surrealism to be introduced into China and Taiwan never arose in the modernization movements of Chinese Art during the two World Wars. The surrealists advocated in 膠原蛋白emphasizing on anti-theory, anti-tradition, anti-morality, so that any kind of social system that thinks highly of the traditional ethics, would make surrealists very difficult for survival. In 1960’s, Taiwan was under the assistance of Americans. With newly economic developments, there was a spawning of revolutionary thinking everywhere. We all know, 室內設計Freedom and Individualism are the two principal characters of the western thought, and are reflected by a presentation of the modern avant-garde style in art creations. But this style was still then unavoidably dealt by distrust and inspection in Taiwan who still had her conservative traditions and collective disciplinary systems. From today’s viewpoint, 貸款the modern paintings came out in Taiwan , naturally due to her special historic factors; however, the concerning advocators in 1960’s had limited understanding of Western Modern Art. The basic strategies of surrealist patterns are “automatic writing” and “exquisite corpse”, and the origins of surrealism came from Dadaism, Metaphysical paintings and 賣屋Freudian theory. Because of their life background and the effects of education among the middle-aged artists of Taiwan , there were not many pure works produced of such style. The middle-aged artists ( born before 1955 ) who were oriented to surrealism or ever tried surrealist style, are as following: Ho Der Lai, Li Chung Sheng, Chuan Shih Ho, Hsu Wu Yung, 訂做禮服Tseng Pei Yao, Chen ching Jung, Pan Chao Shen, Lin Hsing Yueh, Lin Fu Nan, Shaih Lifa, Su Hsin Tien, Huang Yun, Po ying Ping, Yeh Chu Sheng, Dai Bih In, Pedro Tseng, Hwang Jyi, Mei Dean E, Cheng Hsing Wan, Su Chih Che, Yang Shu Hwang, Cheng Tsai Tung, Hwang Wey Jeng etc.. Amongst them, some of them expressed surrealism through characterized symbolisms 結婚filled with a sense of suggestive experiences; some were skilled in their use of materials and their works were filled with pure psychic automatism; others were almost as poets - dreams filled with unconscious psychoanalysis. Yet none of the artists ever came close to Dali’s style of paranoia. Here are eleven sampling representatives from above 租房子middle-aged artists, just classifying as following three categories: 1. Symbolist Surrealism: Tseng Pei Yao ( Surrealist life song), Cheng Ching Jung ( Surrealist solitary drawing ), Lin Hsing Yueh ( Surrealist nature land ), Pan Chao Shen ( Surrealist human love ), Huang Hai Yun ( Surrealist soaring spirit ). 2. Psychical Surrealism: Po Ying 關鍵字廣告Ping ( Surrealist true words), Dai Bih In ( Surrealist reproduced signs ), Yeh Chu Sheng ( Surrealist bioecologic reduction). 3. Poetic Surrealism: Hwang Jyi ( Surrealist phantasmic soul), Su Hsin Tien ( Surrealist recyclical space ), Yang Su Hwang ( Surrealist technology aesthetics). At present time, in an aspiration to promoting Taiwanese culture 室內裝潢and popular cultivation of arts, it is right time for us now to review the evolving process of western surrealism and its developing examples. Perhaps the experiences of western‘s way of thinking could provide us with right manners and perfect references. ( Pedro Tseng 曾長生)
